Our Honeymoon

Ya'll I've been a little stressed lately.  Work is super busy right now and it feels like there are a million things to get done before I leave everyday.  Luckily for me, when I am done with work, I get to come home.  And not plan a wedding.  I cannot tell you how happy that makes me.  For serious.

That being said, I am feeling very nostalgic for my honeymoon...and the beach...and definitely the cocktails.  So here I am, dreaming about the next vacation we're gonna take (even though we have no plans to take a vacation for a while) and then I realized I never shared any of my amazing honeymoon with you!  It was seriously the BEST trip I have ever had and by far the most relaxing.

We went to Secrets Maroma Beach Resort in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico (near Cancun).  We flew direct from Cincinnati into Cancun (about 3 hours) and were greeted with a mimosa on the plan and a hot towel!  We arrived at the hotel at about 8:00pm in Cancun and were greeted with more champagne.  We ordered room service once we unpacked and put on the over-sized cotton robes they had waiting for us in the rooms and just vegged for the first time in weeks.  We had only gotten maybe 4 hours of sleep the night before and after traveling all day, it was heaven.

The next morning we woke up and ordered room service again for breakfast before heading out to the pool.  The pool....was...amaze-balls.  Food, drinks, ice cream, and whatever else you want right at your fingertips.  Husband was completely mesmerized by the swim up bar.  No, he really did not want to leave once we sat down and got our drinks.  He kept saying, "We're in the pool.  And at the bar.  We are sitting on bar stools...in the pool."  I get it sweetie.  I really get it.

We lounged all day by the pool before heading back to the room for what would become a daily nap.  I seriously never napped so much in my life.  For whatever reason, relaxing was exhausting.  The first few nights we were there, we tried to make it around to all the different restaurants before venturing back to our favorite places.

On the second day we went out to the beach.  I die.  No really, I die.  I have NEVER seen sand as white as it was there, nor water so blue.  If you looked up the definition of aquamarine, a picture of this beach would be there.  It was relaxing and beautiful and not crowded at all which I loved.

In the evenings we spent time in the main lobby enjoying drinks and taking advantage of the free wifi! We walked around the resort at night and even caught a show one of the evenings...the same evening I volunteered us for the newlywed game in the resort night club.  But that's another story.

So without further ado...here is a picture recap (well, more like picture overload) of our honeymoon:

One Month

Exactly one month from today, I will be walking towards the man I love in a beautiful white dress.  I literally can. not. wait.  I know I have made a lot of posts about how stressful wedding planning is and how much I despise the weight of it all, and all the things that have gone wrong.  I can't guarantee that there won't be more of those kind of posts between now and July 7, but for now, I will give you a little insight into what our big day will be like.

We are getting married at Historic Locust Grove in Louisville, KY.  If you remember our engagement photos from this post, you may remember how gorgey our wedding venue is (in my opinion at least).  Originally we had planned to get married on the porch of the historic Georgian Mansion for which the property is known for, but we are leaning more towards a different area of the property now considering the sun will be beating directly down on us at 6:00pm on the porch.  A shaded area might work better.  What do you think?

Or in the shaded area...

It's a tough call.  The good thing is that regardless of where we have the ceremony, the porch on the house is still going to be a great area for photos.

And speaking of photos...how much do I love this laid back pic of a gorgeous wedding party at our venue?  I love that the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen suits are monochromatic.  We have light suits and light bridesmaid dresses as well and I am so anxious to see them together!  This certainly makes me feel better about my color decisions...

What do you think of monochromatic??

Anywho...that's just a little insight into the big day.  I know I haven't shared a ton, but I fully plan on posting all the fun pics from the wedding and doing full recaps of the wedding events.

And speaking of wedding events...can we talk about the honeymoon?  With so much going on and so many "to-do" lists and check writing and dress fittings, I literally keep forgetting that I get to go to MEXICO the day after the wedding!  Every time I remember that I get so happy.  We booked our honeymoon at Secrets Resort - Maroma Beach in Mexico.  The boy literally cannot handle himself when it comes to the honeymoon.  He texts me once a week to ask me what the name of the resort is (he can never remember) and flips through our resort pamphlet nightly.  It's pretty much all he can think about.  With scenery like this, how can you blame him?

So pumped!  I've never done the all-inclusive thing before, but I am looking forward to not having to think about money or meals while we are down there.  And yes, we did splurge a little and go with the rooms with the swim out pools in the top photo :-).

Aside from our honeymoon, I am also really pumped to get our wedding bands in.  My engagement ring was definitely an investment, but after looking at countless jewelry stores and not finding what we were looking for, it was 100% worth the expense after walking into Rivard Jewelry and seeing the beautiful Tacori rings.  After nearly a year of careful budgeting, we went back about 3 weeks ago and purchased our wedding bands.  I was disappointed to see that the cost of my band had definitely gone up over the 10 months we had been engaged, but what are you gonna do?  I really really really want a matching band to go on the top and bottom of my ring, but the boy keeps telling me "No."  I guess I will have to wait for an anniversary or babies to get more diamonds :(.

There was a brief moment in time where we looked at the Matching men's Tacori rings that had the same pattern on the inside of the band, but after finding out there were $2K and up, the boy and me agreed that they were outta their mind.  I love ya Tacori, but if I'm paying $2K, there best be some bling on that ring!  We settled on a great simple Tungsten ring that will be durable and super comfy.  I think K is secretly excited to get his wedding band too!

I am curious...how many brides out there have a band on the top and bottom of their ring? Am I cray for wanting that?  I can't seem to convince the boy that "the ring was clearly meant to be worn that way"...lol.

In all seriousness though, I am so excited and lucky to be marrying by best friend.  30 days from now I won't be thinking about how much we stressed, how much money we spent, how much money my parents spent, or how many times I cried out of sheer frustration throughout this whole planning process.  None of that will matter because I get to spend my life with K, and that will have made it all worth it.

Happy almost Friday loves!

What I'm loving, What I'm Doing, and What I'm Wanting Wednesday

Even though I am still reeling from exhaustion after celebrating Miranda's bachelorette party this past weekend in Atlanta, there are many things I am loving, doing, and wanting this Wednesday.  So, with that said, I thought I might link up and with Jamie at This Kind of Love for What I'm Loving Wednesday and share it all with you!

First up, I am LOVING my new Erin Condren planner I got from Miss Whitney for my birthday.  I literally do not know how I have made it this far in my LIFE without it, let alone through 10 months of wedding planning.  Well hello there organization and to-do lists...it's oh so nice to meet you!

I am also loving finally getting my thank-you cards from my Bridal shower, and really loving that it's been like Christmas around here for the last week with all the shower gifts that were sent directly to our house.  Love it!

I am loving way too many of the Coach Handbags in the new spring/summer collection that it is making it hard to decide which one I would like to spend my birthday gift cards on.  What I am not loving is the price tag (obviously) and trying to convince myself that it is okay to get the one I really want and pay the difference...

I am also loving the Penzey spices that my sister got me at my bridal shower...and for sure loving that I didn't even realize that I spelled the word "Penzey" wrong in the thank you card I sent her as well.  She hand-picked 8 spices that she knew I would love, and they are all amazeballs.

Also loving that not only is our honeymoon booked and paid for, I also got my passport in the mail!  Mexico here we come...in 2 more months that is!

Lastly, I am love, love, loving the spectacular weekend I had with these gals (more on that to come in the next post)!

Happy Wednesday friends!!  What are you loving today??
